Evelyn Altick

Evelyn M. Altick, 86, of Russells Point, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2008, at the Green Hills Retirement Community in West Liberty, Ohio. She was born in Marion on August 26, 1922, a daughter of the late Cloyd and Ola Miller Byrd. On December 18, 1944, she married Richard D. Altick in Quincy and he died February 17, 1978. She also was preceded in death by her brothers, Orrie, Darrel and Fred Byrd; and her sisters, Helen Edwards and Dorothy Bell. She is survived by her son, Stephen Altick of Russells Point; daughter, Shirley (Phil) Brandt of West Liberty; grandchildren, Jeremy Altick of Huntsville, Shawn Altick of Columbus, Becky(Chris) Moell of West Liberty and Molly (Matt) Fields of Columbus; and great-grandchildren Dusty, Levi and Lydia Moell, Mason and Micah Fields and Alisha and Devin Altick.

Evelyn was an ideal mother and grandmother who had an amazing number of friends because she always took the time for everyone. A 1940 Pemberton High School graduate, she was a member of the Indian Lake Community Church where she was on the Ladies Aid, the building committee and served as chairman of the board. She also was active with the Mary Rutan Hospital Guild, the Senior Citizens and enjoyed gardening.

Rev. John B. Ellington Jr. will conduct the funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at the Indian Lake Community Church, Russells Point, Ohio. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. Interment is in the Huntsville Cemetery.
