Florence “Irene” Stevenson Bishop, 82, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Friday, July 24, 2009, at the Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine. She was born September 4, 1926, in Shelby County, Ohio, to the late Henry and Delphine Alexander Schmidt. She was also preceded in death by a son, Dennis Stevenson, a daughter, Mary Lou Bateman and brothers, Melvin, Raymond and Valerian, and sisters, Rachael Schmidt, Edwina Chappie.
Survivors include sons, Bill (Bonnie) Stevenson, Rushsylvania, Ohio; Herbert (Becky) Stevenson of Belle Center, Ohio; and Carl Stevenson, Bellefontaine; daughter, Jo Ann Stevenson, San Diego, California; fourteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a brother, Lester (Bonnie) Schmidt, Covington, Ohio; Joanne (Sebastian “Shorty”) Schmidt, Bradford, Ohio; and sisters, Agnes Heintz, Covington, Ohio, Margaret (Sy), Luthman, Anna, Ohio.
She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine, where she was an usher. She was also a member of St. Vincent De Paul Society and was on the board of the Catholic Social Service. She was a faithful visitor of friends and parishioners that were shut-in.
Calling hours are Wednesday, July 29, 2009, from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, with rosary being held at 4:30 P.M. A funeral mass will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 30, 2009, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Rev. Jim Miller officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Calvary Cemetery in Bellefontaine.
