Florence Strickland

Florence E. Strickland, 91, of Urbana, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Vancrest of Urbana.

She was born on July 26, 1924 in Logan County to the late Charles Jr. and Mabel (Easton) Allison.

On November 28, 1946 she married Woodrow A. Strickland and he preceded her in death on August 5, 1998. She is also preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Black and Bertha Curl; a brother, Roger Allison; and a great-great-grandchild, Oryk Baker.

Surviving are her children, Stephen (Jean) Strickland, Brenda White, both of Urbana, OH, Kathy (Robert) McAlexander of Rosewood, and Nancy (Terry) Copas of Urbana; 11 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; her siblings, Doris (Larry) Neff, Russell Allison and Melvin (Evelyn) Allison all of Bellefontaine; sister-in-law, Barbara Allison of Huntsville; and many nieces and nephews.

A homemaker and health care provider, Florence was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union, Urbana, Ohio and Daughters of America. She enjoyed family reunions, reading and working on puzzle books. Florence loved to get out and go when she could. She also enjoyed gardening and canning.

Rev. Carl Ogden will officiate an 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Monday, October 19 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 101 Zanesfield Rd., West Liberty, Ohio where friends may call on Sunday, October 18 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Urbana.
