Florence M. Thobe

Florence M. Thobe, age 94, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away Tuesday evening, February 1, 2022, at her home.  

Florence was born in Logan County Ohio October 9, 1927, to the late Raymond and Grace (Chamberlin) Shafer.  She married Lawrence Thobe July 22, 1946 in Indiana, and he preceded her in death September 10, 2013.  Florence was also preceded in death by siblings Mary Corwin, George Shafer, Bess Collum, Stanley Shafer, and Fred Shafer.

Florence is survived by daughters: Valarie (Jeff) Latimer, Kim Thobe, and Mary Ann Thobe, all of Bellefontaine; a granddaughter, Annie (Ben) Manbevers; a great-granddaughter, Faith Ann Manbevers and numerous nieces and nephews.

A 1945 graduate of Indian High Lake School, Florence was an avid bowler and was a seamstress for many years.  In her younger years, she was a postcard model for Indian Lake.  Florence had been a member of a Women’s Club while living in Cincinnati.   She enjoyed woodworking, cooking, and spending time with her family.  With her husband Lawrence, they owned and operated a grocery store at Indian Lake.

A private family burial was held in the Huntsville Cemetery.
