Franklin A. “Andy” Hites, 71, of Huntsville, Ohio, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012 at his residence.
He was born in Allen County, Ohio January 19, 1941, a son of the late Harley Edwin and Clara Ellen (Hatcher) Hites. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Elsie Taylor, Calista Hamilton, Martha Offenbacher, Freda Bayer, Phyllis Allen, Susan Krouskop and Millie Wills and a brother, Willis Hites.
On August 29, 1961 in Winchester, Indiana, he married the former Charlotte Mees, and she survives along with sons, Ryan (Tessca) Hites of Bellefontaine, Ohio and Curtis (Mika) Hites of Huntsville; two grandchildren, Hannah and Jacob Hites; three step-grandchildren, Tiffany Bridges, Zack Weldy and Chance Weldy; three sisters, Julia (Robert) Ferguson of Huntsville, Maxine Downing of Bellefontaine, Joyce (Robert) Houshel of New Mexico, and numerous nieces and nephews.
"Andy" attended Washington Local Schools and was a United States Army Veteran of the Viet Nam War, stationed in Germany. He was a member of the Mt. Tabor Church of God, and loved the outdoors and gardening.
He retired as a security guard with Acrux in 2006 and enjoyed spending time with his family and vacations.
Brother Kerry Snapp will conduct the funeral service at 11 A.M. Thursday, November 29, 2012, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where calling hours are Wednesday, November 28, 2012 from 5 to 8 P.M. Interment will be at the Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff, Ohio with members of the Logan County Honor Guard providing military honors.
