Fred J. Clogg, 73, of Bellefontaine went home to be with His Lord on Monday, June 27, 2016 at his residence.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 31, 1942, the son of the late George and Adeline (Kockta) Clogg and grandson of the late Fred and Marie Clogg all formerly of Cleveland.
On June 6, 1964, the married the former Vivian Opatrny in St. Clairsville, Ohio, who was his partner in ministry for 50 years, and she survives. Also surviving are their son, James Robert “Bob” (Lori) Clogg of Canton, IL, a daughter, Kimberly (Tim) Pogue of Christiansburg, OH, six grandchildren; James Richard Clogg, Chris Clogg, and Cord Clogg all of Illinois and Jonathon Huffman, Jessica Huffman, and Jordon Huffman all of Ohio, four great grandchildren; Ryan, Journey, Anthony, and Gavin, and two brothers; Thomas (Jutta) Clogg and John Clogg, both of Cleveland.
Fred served as pastor at Springdale Friends Church in Cadiz, OH and Mt. Carmel Friends Church in Cable, OH, and as associate pastor at Goshen Friends Church in Zanesfield, OH as well as the Urbana Friends Church in Urbana, OH under the Evangelical Friend Church, Eastern Region for 40 years. For 10 years, he served as pastor of the Bellefontaine Church of the Brethren.
His life verse was Philippians 4:11b, “I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” Another one of his favorite verses, which he fully believed, is found in Jeremiah 29:11, “I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a Hope and a Future.”
Pastor Fred Kensler will officiate a funeral service on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Goshen Friends Church, 5527 Co. Rd. 153, Zanesfield, OH 43360. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty.
