Frederick G. Steinhelfer, 49, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Monday, November 7, 2011 in Union County, Ohio. He was born January 15, 1962 in Kenton, Ohio to John Timothy Steinhelfer of Zanesfield, Ohio and Nancy (Bocook) Thompson of Lima, Ohio.
On May 1, 1990, he married Melinda Slayback in Bellefontaine and she survives. Also surviving are his sons, Ronald (Jenny) Steinhelfer of Moody Air Force base, Valdosta, Georgia and John T. Steinhelfer II; a daughter, Amy Bennett of Salina, Kansas; step-daughters, Misty and Megan Slayback of Bellefontaine; a brother, Tim (Kelly) Steinhelfer of Bellefontaine; sisters, Bonnie (Steve) Forster of Bellefontaine and Christy Thompson of Lima; grandmother, Jean Akey of Zanesfield; and 6 grandchildren.
A truck driver, Fred was a 1980 graduate of Bellefontaine High School. He was a member of the Bellefontaine V.F.W. and the American Legion Harold Kerr Post of #173. He was a Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeye football fan.
Rev. Bryan Meadows will officiate the 2:00 P.M. funeral service Friday, November 11, 2011 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where friends may call from noon to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Interment will be at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio.
