G. Reid Prinkey, 74, of West Mansfield and formerly of Wooster, passed away early Tuesday morning in his home. Born in 1944 in Connellsville Pennsylvania, he was a 1966 graduate of the Ohio State University and a Buckeye through and through. He went to work for Deere & Company immediately out of school as a branch territory manager, earning TM of the Year in 1968.
In 1972 he purchased Creviston Implement in West Mansfield which he operated until his semi-retirement in 1996. He then worked at the Transportation Research Center until his full retirement in 2018.
In between his business and part time work, he was an avid hiker, especially partial to Utah and Arizona, and all U. S. National Parks. Over his lifetime, he also enjoyed motorcycling, golf, snowmobiling, skiing, boating, and geocaching. One of his favorite acts was proudly wearing his Buckeye gear on out-of-state trips, especially Michigan.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda (Humphrey) Prinkey; sons Dub, Scott (wife Allison) and Todd; grandchildren Cole Stone and Brooke Walton; great-grandchildren Kylan and Blake Stone; sisters Theda Chamberlin and Gay Robertson; brothers Rex (Marcia) and Robin (Mary) Prinkey; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, R. W. 'Dub' Prinkey and Thelma (DeHaven) Prinkey, of Mill Run, Pennsylvania and Wooster, Ohio; and stepfather Edward Burge of West Salem.
Per Reid's request, he will be cremated and no funeral is planned at this time. His burial service will be private.
The arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
