Gail Thomas Hunt, age 90, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Monday, November 17, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
He was born in Bellefontaine July 2, 1924, to the late Leo Thomas and Hazel (Sullivan) Hunt.
On April 6, 1946, he married the former Dorothy Marie Eley in Lakeview, Ohio and she preceded him in death November 27, 2009. Gail was also preceded in death by a son, Stephen Thomas Hunt in 2002; a daughter-in-law, Jackie (Arnold) Hunt; a grandson, Greg Hunt; and his siblings, Ruth, Harold, Dick and Jack.
Surviving are two sons, Vernon L. Hunt of Bellefontaine and Stanley (Donna) Hunt of Dublin, Ohio; five grandchildren, Amber, Taylor, Amanda, Steve and Kevin; four great grandchildren, Tyson, Max, Makayla, and Issiah; a sister, Thelma Eaton of Bellefontaine, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gail had worked for the New York Central Railroad and the Bellefontaine Post Office.
A World War II Army Veteran, Gail was a recipient of the Purple Heart and also received a Bronze Star. A family man and one who enjoyed going to church, Gail was a member of the First Church of God and the Bellefontaine Masonic Lodge #209. He and Dorothy enjoyed spending winters in Florida.
Pastors A.W. Purdin and John Eley will officiate the 2:30 P.M. funeral service Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, with two hours of visitation prior to the funeral service.
Interment will be at the Bellefontaine Cemetery with military honors by the Logan County Veteran's Honor Guard.
