Gail H. Yoder, 89, of the Green Hills Retirement Community in West Liberty, Ohio, left this life Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 4:55 P.M. He was born August 29, 1921, into the John I. and Katherine Yoder family and leaves one sister, Wilma Yoder also of Green Hills and a brother, John Mark Yoder of Fort Collins, Colorado.
After alternative service during World War II as a conscientious objector, he married Ruth Ellen Yoder June 5, 1946. They shared life and love together along with three sons, Jerold (Susan) Yoder of La Mesa, California, Samuel (Arleta) Yoder of Bristol, Indiana, and Charles (Debby) Yoder of Marion, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Simon (Barb), Adam, Abby (Joshua) Damron, Joel, Hannah, Naomi and Alex.
Gail graduated from West Liberty High School and spent one year at Goshen College. He was a long time farmer and delivered eggs to many businesses and private customers. Gail loved music and sang bass in the Yoder quartet along with Ruth Ellen, his sister, Wilma and her husband Roy. He was a follower of Jesus with membership at South Union Mennonite Church.
Pastor Howard Schmidt will officiate a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the South Union Mennonite Church in West Liberty, where friends may call from 10 to 11 A.M. prior to the service.
