Garnet Leo Shanahan, 70, of Huntsville passed away at 4:59 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Mary Rutan Hospital. He was born in Windsor, Ontario on July 24, 1944 to the late Raymond and Helen (Ruggaber) Shanahan.
On October 22, 1966 he married Beatrice Byrne and she survives. He is also survived by his three children; Bob (Melissa) Shanahan of Mechanicsburg, Lynn (Brett) Maslen of Iona, Ontario Canada and Dan (Kristi) Shanahan of Huntsville; 10 grandchildren, Jessica Shanahan, Katlyn Shanahan, Lesley Shanahan, Meghan Johnston, Lauren Johnston, Bryce Maslen, Zoe Maslen, Connor Shanahan, Carter Shanahan and Willow Shanahan.
A harness maker, Garnet and his family owned and operated Shanahan Harness in Huntsville, Ohio. He was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Russells Point and had a passion for horses and hunting.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, 464 Madison Avenue, Russells Point, Ohio 43348. Visitation will be Monday, February 23rd from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine and on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio.
