Gary J. Barger, 69, of West Liberty, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, January 21, 2016, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. He was born in Bellefontaine on December 13, 1946 to the late Marvin and Hazel (Clem) Barger.
On July 15, 1966, Gary married Rebecca (VanHoose) Barger in West Liberty and she survives. He is also survived by sons, Clinton (Sherry) Barger and Clayton (Deborah) Barger, both of West Liberty; grandchildren, Zack, Ryan, Grace, Aundria, Nicholas and Mason; brothers, Dwight Barger of Sharon Center, Ohio and Lyle (Lylia) Barger of Bellefontaine; nephews, Reyse and Troy Barger; niece, Kaley Bensman; and his dog, Priscilla.
Gary was a 1964 graduate of West Liberty-Salem High School, attended Lincoln Technical School in Indianapolis and was a member of the Army Reserves. He was a lifelong farmer. Gary’s love and passion was for his wife, his family, being a farmer, and his antique cars. He was a member of Kings Creek United Methodist Church.
Friends may call at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, West Liberty, on Monday, January 25, 2016 from 2-7pm. Pastor Keith Matthews will officiate the funeral service on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 10am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty, with military honors provided by the Logan County Veteran's Honor Guard.
