George Clapsaddle

George R. Clapsaddle, 88 of East Liberty, peacefully went to his Heavenly home from his earthly home at 10:55 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on November 26, 1924 at home in North Greenfield, to the late Roy and Lula (Arthur) Clapsaddle. He was also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Imogene Clapsaddle and brothers-in-law, Jay Ricketts and Bill Comer.

On February 2, 1946 he was married to the love of his life Treva Comer by Rev. Walter Friend in the East Liberty Church of Christ.

He is survived by his beloved children; Paul (Junis) Clapsaddle of Marysville, Dale (Lynne) Clapsaddle of Zanesfield, and Carolyn (Harvey) Grimes of East Liberty. Also loving grandchildren; Tammy (Andy) Dosch of Dublin, Chris (Amy) Clapsaddle of Zanesfield, Teresa (Jeff) Robson of The Woodlands, TX., Julianna (Neil) Niemi of Marysville, Josh (Heather) Clapsaddle of Zanesfield, Jaymie LeVan of Zanesfield, Todd Clapsaddle of West Liberty, Alonna (Bill) Watkins and Valorie (Luke) Jolliff both of East Liberty; great-grandchildren, Raiph LeVan, Melanie Watkins, Sailor LeVan, Brennan Robson, Grayson Niemi, Sidney Dosch, Morgan Robson, Madison Watkins, Maximus Clapsaddle, Everett Clapsaddle, Kaylor Niemi, Bode Clapsaddle, McKale Watkins, Kayley Dosch, Dalton Clapsaddle, Kiera Clapsaddle, Lane Jolliff, Kalla and Harmen Niemi, and Marley Watkins; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Ricketts and Sandy (Jim) Godwin; brother-in-law, Paul Comer and several nephews and one niece complete his family.

He was a 1942 graduate of East Liberty High School.

He had been a volunteer fireman, a member of the Logan Hills School Board of Education and Logan County Children Services Board. He also was on the Perry Township Zoning Board, was a member of Farm Bureau Council, the Antique Tractor Association and Fan Club. Over the years he has held various positions in his church including Sunday school teacher and superintendent, song director, deacon, and elder. He is a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church.

His occupations reflected his many loves. He was a farmer, then worked at CH Goff Lumber Company, a Hopewell Dairy Route salesman, co-owner of Clapsaddle Brothers Building Contractors, manager of PK and Logan County Lumber Companies, Nationwide Insurance Agent, and retired in 1990 from Transportation Research Center.

He enjoyed traveling and camping, but his passion in life was music. He enjoyed writing music and will be especially remembered for his singing, yodeling, and guitar playing.

A hard worker, he was a talented carpenter, metal worker, and a jack-of-all trades. He especially enjoyed designing and working on projects for his family and friends and was never content unless he had a project going on.

Most of all he loved people and was an example of a Godly man.

Pastor Jeffory Willetts will officiate an 11 A.M. funeral service Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Bellefontaine, where calling hours are Friday, March 22, 2013 from 5 to 8 P.M. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio.

The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements.
