George C. Forsythe Sr., 75, of East Liberty, Ohio, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013 at his residence.
He was born November 8, 1937, in East Liberty to the late Walter and Bertha (Peter) Forsythe. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Forsythe.
On December 29, 1981, he married the former Jeanne Sheeley in Bellefontaine, Ohio and she survives. Also surviving are sons, George C. Forsythe Jr. of Russells Point, Ohio, John (Anne) Forsythe of Bellefontaine and Michael Forsythe of Columbus, Ohio; his brother, Lloyd (Betty) Forsythe of East Liberty; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
After forty five years, George retired from the railroad where he worked as a conductor and a brakeman. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Bellefontaine where he served as a Elder Emeritus. He was a member of the East Liberty Masonic Lodge #247, Antioch Shrine in Dayton, Ohio, the Indian Lake Moose, and the Bellefontaine Friendly Senior Center. He enjoyed the game of euchre, playing in several tournaments, and also enjoyed bowling, where he served as the secretary for the church league for twenty seven years. George was an organist and an accomplished musician who played instruments by ear.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 30, 2013, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where calling hours are from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 29, 2013. A Masonic Service will be held at 8:00 P.M. following visitation. Interment will be at the East Liberty Cemetery in East Liberty, Ohio.
The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine handled the arrangements for the family.
