George W. Klopfenstein, 81, of Sidney and formerly of Jackson Center, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2015 in Wilson Memorial Hospital, Sidney.
He was born in Shelby County on May 29, 1934, the son of the late Roy and Lucille (Baughman) Klopfenstein. He is also preceded in death by a brother, David Klopfenstein.
On December 1, 1968 he married the former Sara Jane Maxwell and she survives along with children, Craig Klopfenstein of Sidney and Amy (Austin) Regula of Wapakoneta and four step-children, Connie (Ric) Van Horn of Botkins, Wayne (Dawn) Poppe of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Cindy Pulfer of Sidney, and Eldon (Mary) Poppe of Peru, IN, two grandchildren, Alexis and Carson Regula, 11 step-grandchildren, 11 step-great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Carol Klopfenstein of Botkins and several nieces and nephews.
George attended Jackson Center Schools and then served his country in the US Army from 1957 to 1959. He worked for Airstream in Jackson Center for 40 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Jackson Center United Methodist Church. He truly enjoyed time with his grandchildren, whether it be fishing with Carson and Alexis, or going to the fair with Alexis and Carson and their steers. He also enjoyed roller skating, his John Deere tractors, and anything Elvis.
Pastor Rob Ulmer will officiate a funeral service on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Jackson Center United Methodist Church 202 E. Pike St. Jackson Center, OH 45334. Friends may call on Sunday to the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 214 W. Pike St. Jackson Center from 2 to 6 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday at the church. Burial will be in New Loramie Valley Cemetery, Botkins.
