George Thomas “Tom” Neeld, Jr., 86, of Lakeview, Ohio, passed away at his residence on Thursday, May 7, 2009. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio, on July 19, 1922, to the late George Thomas Sr. and Edith Wolfe Neeld. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Richard Neeld, a sister, Myrtle Runkle, one grandchild and one great grandchild.
He is survived by his wife, Marcella Alspaugh, whom he married on September 12, 1945, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Also surviving are 2 sons, George Thomas “Tim” (Barb) Neeld III of Nelsonville, Ohio, and Jeffrey L. “Jeff” Neeld and his special friend, Tina Akers of Bellefontaine; 2 daughters, Christina J. “Chris” (Robert) Madison of Nichollasville, Kentucky, and Rebecca E. “Becky” (Keith Jr.) Ross of Bellefontaine; a sister, Reba (Bill) Landis of Bellefontaine; and 19 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
Tom was an electrician for Rockwell International and retired from North American Rockwell in Columbus. He was a Army Air Corp Veteran serving in World War II. He enjoyed painting pictures and doing artwork. Tom made, collected and worked on clocks. Tom was a fan of the OSU Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns and the Cincinnati Reds. He loved to tease his grandchildren and help the neighbors.
Pastor Forrest Amidon will conduct the funeral service at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. Calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Zanesfield, Ohio Cemetery.
