Geraldine Piatt

Geraldine “Gerri” Piatt, 88, of Mason, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital in Newnan, Georgia. She was born in West Liberty, Ohio, on October 21, 1928, to the late M.G. and Edna (Lovett) Willits.

Gerri married Ben S. Piatt on January 26, 1947, in West Liberty. He preceded her in death on October 7, 2006. An infant brother Richard Willits also preceded her in death.

Gerri is survived by her daughter, Sonjia (Don) Lambeck of Newnan, Georgia; two sons, Rene’ Piatt of Hamilton and Kevin (Theresa) Piatt of Medina; sister LaDonna Gantz, West Libery; aunt Erma Shultz, Bellefontaine; grandchildren Emily Lambeck Simmons (Cole), Newnan, Georgia; Justin Piatt, Colerain; Jordan Piatt, Hamilton; Brianna Piatt, New York City; Sarah Piatt Smith (Dan), Kailua, Hawaii; Jacob Piatt, San Diego, California; Stephen and Jeremy Piatt, Medina, great-grandchildren Zoe, Zane, and Bruce Simmons; Olivia and Allison Piatt; and James Smith; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors

A 1946 graduate of Monroe Township School, Gerri was a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church in Mason, Ohio. She worked at Milligan’s Hardware in Bellefontaine for 20 years. After Milligan’s sold, Gerri worked for Daring Chevrolet until 1972. She and her husband then moved to Warren County, where she worked for various automobile dealerships as title clerk and bookkeeper for 32 years. She retired in 2004. Gerri was Past Worthy Matron of the Sarah Elizabeth Chapter, Eastern Star; was a member of the Ohio Hardware Association, and was selected as Mrs. Ohio Hardware 1962. She was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, and Ohio State football.

Rev. Kevin Stainton will officiate a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 101 Zanesfield Road, West Liberty. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio.
