Gertrude Johns

Gertrude “Gertie” Marie Johns, 87, of Kenton, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at her residence. She was born November 28, 1923, in Cherokee, Ohio, to the late Guy and Alma (Wagner) Neal. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Irene Beamont.

Gertie is survived by her husband, Lester Johns, whom she married in Bellefontaine, Ohio January 3, 1941. Also surviving is a daughter, Connie (Phil) Wroten of Morral, Ohio; brothers, Charles Neal of Bellefontaine and Merle Neal of West Liberty, Ohio; a sister, Reetha Lowe of Bellefontaine; six grandchildren, Teresa Bender, Jodi Milliren, Dean Beamont Jr., Christina Russell, Tammie Custer, and Lee Wroten; and seven great grandchildren.

A homemaker, she loved flowers and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Pastor A. W. Purdin will conduct the funeral service at 2 P.M. Monday, May 2, 2011, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where calling hours are from 2 to 5 P.M. Sunday, May 1, 2011. Interment will be in the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio.
