Gilbert Howell I

Gilbert Henry “Uncle Gil” Howell I, 52, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Sunday, July 4, 2010 at his residence. He was born August 1, 1957 in Bellefontaine, the son of the late Max and Jean Anne (Hicks) Howell I.

He is survived by his wife, Angela (Green) Howell, whom he married April 16, 1983 in Bellefontaine, along with children, Gil Howell II of Russells Point, Ohio, Shawna Sayre, and Lyric Lawrence, both of Bellefontaine; three brothers, Max (Susan) Howell, Jr., Keith (Kimberly) Roberts, Sr., both of Bellefontaine, and Ryan Howell of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Patricia Roberts and Renee (Robert) Saylor, both of Bellefontaine, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jefferson Wayne Howell (January 19, 1987) and a step-father, Charles Roberts, Jr.

He was a United States Army Veteran. He attended Grace A.M.E. Church, Bellefontaine and loved to BBQ for his family and friends. Other hobbies he liked included R/C airplanes and Bonsai trees. He was a huge sports fan, and loved to follow the Philadelphia Eagles.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 8, 2010, at 6:00 P.M. in the Grace A.M.E. Church 233 S. Main Street Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311, conducted by Rev. J.D. Grigsby and Pastor Joshua Johnson. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held privately in the Bellefontaine Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family. The staff at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements.
