Gladys V. Deardurff, 77, of Bellefontaine passed away Sunday evening, May 31, 2015 at Ohio State Hospitals-East, Columbus, Ohio.
She was born in Shelby County on December 16, 1937 to the late Virgil and Phebe (Ralston) Shroyer. Gladys married Marion “Earl” Deardurff on July 1, 1956 in Bellefontaine and he preceded her in death on January 13, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her brother George Shroyer, a sister Brenda Arbogast, and an infant son David Lee Deardurff in 1961.
Gladys was a 1955 graduate of Lakeview High School and worked at Gems Sportswear in Russells Point for more than twenty-three years. She enjoyed camping, loved researching genealogy and was a past Vice-President of the Shelby County Genealogical Society. Gladys was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church, Bellefontaine.
Gladys is survived by her children, Diana (Terry) Broyles of Huntsville and Doug Deardurff of Sidney; grandchildren: Jaclyn (Brett) Ullom of Huntsville, Jason (Stacy) Kidder of Russells Point, Caleb Deardurff of Columbus, Leah Deardurff of DeGraff and Rebekah Deardurff of DeGraff; a step-grandson Sebastian Broyles of Asheville; great-grandchildren: Kaci Kidder, Hayli Ullom, Kelsi Ullom, Madison Kidder and Skylar Kidder; step-great-grandchildren: Logan and Megan Broyles; a sister Ruth (Dave) Devore of Bloomingdale; a sister-in-law Kay Shroyer of Largo, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Bellefontaine on Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 4-8pm. Pastor William Zeller will officiate the funeral service on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery.
