Gladys I. Kerns

Gladys I. Kerns, age 88, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away at 1:16 P.M. Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine. She was born in Bloom Center, Ohio September 10, 1930, to the late John Elwood and Bertha Mae (Spillman) Moore.

On September 11, 1950, Gladys married Raymond Paul Kerns in Richmond, Indiana, and he preceded her in death June 30, 2008. She was also preceded in death by a half-sister, Pamela Simpson.

Gladys is survived by her two daughters, Paula (Donald) Nash of Huntsville, Ohio and Jan (Dan) Whetstone of Toddville, Iowa; four grandchildren, Correy Daum, Amanda Daum, Sabina (Bruce) Quint, and Paul Michael Klein; six great grandchildren and a half-sister, Sue (Marvin) Chism of Bellefontaine.

A 1948 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, Gladys retired from D.A.B. in 1985 and was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Bellefontaine. Although she was an independent lady who did not often express her deeper feelings, she cared attentively to her family in times of need, particularly during the last two years of Raymond’s life. She enjoyed crocheting and playing piano.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Logan Acres for their quality care of Gladys over the last several months.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 P.M. Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine, where Pastor Mike Roberts will officiate the funeral service at 6:00 P.M.

Burial will be at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio on a later date.

The funeral arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
