Gladys Shanks

Gladys D. Shanks, 90, of Huntsville, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at Heartland of Bellefontaine in Bellefontaine, Ohio. She was born in Kenton, Ohio February 12, 1921, a daughter of the late Howard and Serdula (Oates) Bowman. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Verna Kay Hanley, 3 sisters and 1 brother.

On May 31, 1950, she married Thomas Pearl Shanks and he preceded her in death November 4, 1984.

Survivors include daughters, Carol (Jerry) Fry of Huntsville, Lisa (Terry) Esch of Huntsville and Gyla (Tim) Gietzen of Bellefontaine; 10 grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and a son-in-law, Robert Hanley of Belle Center, Ohio.

She enjoyed working in her garden and yard and was a member of the Huntsville Presbyterian Church where she was very active.

Pastors Ben Beres and Russell D. Williams will officiate the funeral service Saturday, September 3, 2011, at 10 A.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine where calling hours are Friday, September 2, 2011, from 4 to 7 P.M. Interment will be in the Huntsville Cemetery.
