Glenn Leslie Wagner, 94, passed away on Sunday morning, January 12, 2025, at Logan Acres in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Born in West Mansfield, Ohio on February 11, 1930, Glenn was the son of the late Joseph L. and Ethel L. (Young) Wagner.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary E. Wagner, as well as his siblings, Gilbert Wagner and Hazel Snook.
Glenn grew up on a farm outside of West Mansfield, Ohio. He graduated from East Liberty High School in the Class of 1949 and then served his country in the U.S. Navy on the aircraft carrier, USS Valley Forge, during the Korean War (1950-1954). On May 29, 1955, he married Mary Elizabeth Heizer in the West Mansfield Baptist Church. Glenn and Mary were award-winning dairy farmers in the West Mansfield area for almost 20 years. During his life, he was also employed by the Harding Machine Company, Na-Churs Liquid Fertilizer, Transportation Research Center, and Roberts Express.
Glenn was a man of great faith in God who had a heart to share the gospel with others. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bellefontaine, Ohio. He was a faithful husband, a loving father and grandpa. Glenn was a talented woodworker and built special projects for each of his children and grandchildren which will forever be cherished. He was a patriotic American and represented the American Legion with other veterans in local parades. Glenn loved talking about farming, his childhood in rural Ohio, his time in the Navy, and his many motorcycle adventures.
Glenn is survived by his three children: Glenna (Dave) Woods of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Sandra (James) Tassell of Nashville, Tennessee, and Gary (Kathy) Wagner of Angola, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Liza (Chris) Tucker, Stephanie (Joshua) Woods, Hannah (Luciano) Gomes, Abigail (Matt) Miller, Caitlin (Josh) Fuson, Andrew Tassell, Lee (Kristina) Wagner, Landon (Sule) Wagner, and Lauren (Raul) Calvillo; and 17 great-grandchildren, Libby, Grace, John, London, Lia, Jalynn, Peyton, Thomas, Ryan, Ella, Luke, Paisley, Walker, Mason, Justin, Kailynn, and Lily.
Services to celebrate Glenn’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine, OH. The family will receive friends one hour before the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, West Mansfield, with military honors provided by members of the Logan County Veteran Honor Guard.
