Goldie Watkins

Goldie L. Watkins, 88, of Bellefontaine passed away Saturday evening, October 24, 2015 at Logan Acres Care Center.

She was born in Bellefontaine on December 6, 1926 to the late Ray and Evalena (Beightler) Kerns. Goldie married Carroll D. Watkins on March 6, 1948 in Newport, Kentucky and he preceded her in death on January 8, 1977. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Annabell Bobblitt and brothers Merlin Kerns and Leon Kerns.

Goldie was a member of Bellefontaine First Church of God and retired as a bus driver for Benjamin Logan Schools, where she had worked for 22 years. An avid bowler, Goldie was inducted into the Bellefontaine Bowling Hall of Fame and bowled twice a week up until 2014. She was also a big fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Goldie is survived by her children: Judy (Bob) Wilson, Joyce Sell and David Watkins, all of Bellefontaine; six grandchildren: Don (Allison) Watkins, Dave (Brittany) Watkins, Dan Watkins, Mindy (Jason) Smith, Bethany (Steve) Roberts and Greg (Jackie) Sell; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pastor Ray Headings will officiate the funeral service on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 1:00pm at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Bellefontaine where visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in Zanesfield Cemetery.
