Gregory Leo Yoder, 78, of Bellefontaine, passed away on February 16, 2025, at Otterbein Green Hills Senior Living Community in West Liberty following a brief illness.
He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on February 13, 1947, to parents Maurice and Marguerite Yoder of West Liberty who preceded him in death, along with a brother, Kenneth “Jock” Yoder and an aunt, Janice Ashcraft.
Greg graduated from West Liberty-Salem High School in 1965 and went on to serve in the United States Army from 1966 to 1967 during the Vietnam War. After returning stateside, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Urbana University.
On July 10, 1971, Greg married Maureen Worley of Belle Center, whom he adored throughout their 53 years of marriage. Together, they had four sons and nine grandchildren who were an immense source of pride for him.
After marriage, Greg had a long career across multiple industries, working first as a teacher before joining the AcuSport Corporation and later, Honda of America. In retirement, Greg enjoyed delivering flowers for Wren’s Florist and Greenhouse in Bellefontaine.
To those who knew him, Greg was smart, funny, friendly and quick-witted. He was a voracious reader with an incredible memory that made him, and his brother Jock, a difficult team to beat in Trivial Pursuit. He was a deeply caring man who was especially good at making those around him feel loved, supported and appreciated. On Sundays, Greg loved cheering on his Cleveland Browns and spent his free time golfing, woodworking, shooting and spending time with his family and faithful golden retriever, Maudie. He was a Freemason for nearly half a century.
He leaves behind his wife, Maureen Yoder, sons Gavin (Kristen) Yoder and Colin (Carrie) Yoder of Bellefontaine, Drs. Grant (Elizabeth) Yoder of New Albany and Drew (Signe Anderson) Yoder of Bexley. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Mullaney, Ethan, Liam, Carter, Caden, Leo, Dagny, Ingrid and Patrick.
