Gregory A. Peitsmeyer, 60, of Bellefontaine, passed away Wednesday evening, January 21, 2015 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Greg was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania on August 31, 1954 to Ralph “Skip” and the late Mary Lou (Mihalek) Peitsmeyer. He married the former Mary Brunswick on September 9, 1978 in Coldwater and she survives. Greg is also survived by his children: Leslie (Brian) Regula of Huntsville and Aaron (Leslie Perkins) Peitsmeyer of Columbus; two grandchildren: Cason and Mia Regula; father Ralph “Skip” Peitsmeyer of Rockingham, North Carolina; mother-in-law and father-in-law Ann & Lou Brunswick of Coldwater; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jane (Dan) Diller, Tom (Peg) Brunswick, Carol (Doug) Fisher, Mark (Gay) Brunswick, Jeff (Sandy) Brunswick and Amy (John) Shaw; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends Heiner Steffen, Bill Patterson, Mark Weingart and Bruce Eggleston.

Greg was a graduate of Wright State University where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Education and also his Masters degree in Education Administration. He retired in 2011 from Bellefontaine High School where he was a teacher and administrator. A 25 year coaching career included 10 years as an assistant coach and the Chiefs Head Football coach from 1988-2002.

Beyond football, Greg was passionate about his family and friends. Greg enjoyed traveling with his wife and children, creating special moments with his grandchildren and sharing stories and laughs with his friends. He was honored to be known first as a wonderful husband, caring father and devoted PaPa.

Greg was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Visitation will be held at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main St. Bellefontaine on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 2-6pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 26, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 328 East Patterson, Bellefontaine at 11am with Fr. Patrick Sheridan presiding. Burial will follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
