Greta Kerns

Greta Jo Kerns, 84, of Bellefontaine passed away Saturday morning, March 14, 2015 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. She was born in Muncie, Indiana on August 21, 1930 to the late John Merle and Marie (Retz) Bowen. On December 12, 1953, Greta Jo married Robert R. Kerns in Bellefontaine and he preceded her in death on June 10, 1983. She was also preceded in death by a brother William Bowen and a granddaughter Stephanie Marie Storm.

Greta Jo worked many years at Super Foods in the advertising department and later at the Logan County Senior Center where she volunteered upon her retirement. She also volunteered with the Mary Rutan Hospital Guild and with the American Cancer Society. A member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Greta Jo enjoyed her grandkids, playing Bridge, going out to eat – especially to get ice cream, and traveling.

Greta Jo is survived by her daughters: Julie Ann Storm of Bellefontaine and Jennifer Jo (William) Fox of Plain City; son John Bowen (Coral) Kerns of Loveland; seven grandchildren: John Wesley Kerns, Shawn M. Kerns, Robert S. Storm, Richard Daniel Storm, Christopher Michael Postle, Derek Joseph Postle and Christopher Fox; five great-grandchildren: Sawyer, Harper, Laney, Riggs and Hayden.

Visitation will be held at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Bellefontaine, on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 4-7pm. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 11am at the funeral home with Rev. Rob Fulton officiating. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
