Harold A. Longbrake, 71, of Marysville and formerly of Rushsylvania passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 at Memorial Hospital of Union County, Marysville. He was born near Raymond on April 24, 1943 to the late Harold E. and Laura L. (Askins) Longbrake.
Harold was a lifelong proud American farmer who endeavored to improve the land and provide for the future of American food production. He was a past-President of the local Cattleman’s Association, a Pioneer Seed dealer, state-recognized leader in the establishment of wetland reserves, recipient of Conservationist of the Year award and supported the Future Farmers of America. Harold also had his pilot license and at one time held a real-estate license. He attended Millcreek Church in Raymond.
Harold is survived by his wife Linda (Clemans) Longbrake of Marysville whom he married in August of 2009; his children: Tonya Cole of Rushsylvania, Harold K. “Chip” (Ruth) Longbrake of Rushsylvania, Michelle (Bob) Lutz of Casper, Wyoming, Kevin (Noriko) Longbrake of Marysville and Tricia (Scott) Stevenson of Piedmont, South Carolina; 15 grandchilren: Dustin, Ryan, Lance, Jason, Jesse, Kyle, Lindsey, Luke, Philip, Matthew, Kye, Hana, Brenden, Ashlyn and Brock; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Beatrice Longbrake Riedmiller of Milford Center, Betty Longbrake Eastman of Raymond and Mary Longbrake (Tim) Lyden of Bellefontaine; a brother William (Rae) Longbrake of Palmer, Alaska; former wife Karla (Kennedy) Overs; numerous nieces and nephews; step-children: Troy A. (Lisa) Selhorst of Rushsylvania, Yvonne (Tom) Herring of East Liberty, Kelly Clemans, Samual Clemans and Herbert Clemans, all of Marysville, and Sherri Clemans of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
He was preceded in death by a wife, Coranita (Williams) Longbrake to whom he was married from 1988 until she died in 2008.
Pastor Jack Knox will officiate the funeral service on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 12 noon at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Bellefontaine where visitation will be held Friday, December 26, 2014 from 4-9pm and also on Saturday from 10am to 12 noon. Burial will be in Harper Cemetery.
