Harriett Smith

Harriett L. Smith, 84, of Urbana, Ohio, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the Green Hills Care Center in West Liberty, Ohio. She was born May 15, 1926 in Logan County Ohio, the daughter of the late James N. and Ethel H. (Jenkins) Taylor.

On March 13, 1943 she married Albert J. Smith in Bellefontaine, Ohio, and he preceded her in death May 21, 2009. Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Jane Pepple and Elva Fullerton.

She is survived by two daughters, Dale L. (Bob) Haddix of Lakeview, Ohio and Susan A. (Lloyd) Oliver of West Liberty; four sons, James A. (Virginia) Smith of Urbana, Bill J. (Ginny) Smith of Kingscreek, Ohio, Jack L. (Connie) Smith of Louisville, Kentucky, and Brian J. Smith of Urbana; a brother, Robert (Pauline) Taylor of Centerville, Ohio; brother-in-law, Bud (Vicky) Smith of Reno, Nevada; twenty two grandchildren, thirty four great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.

Harriett attended the Faith Fellowship Church in Urbana. She was active and held numerous positions in the North Elementary Mother’s Club, PTA and the V.F.W. in Urbana.

Calling hours are Wednesday, June 23, 2010, from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home in West Liberty where Pastor Cheryl Siegenthaler will conduct the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 24, 2010. Burial will be in the Huntsville Cemetery following the funeral service in Huntsville, Ohio.
