Helen “Fran” Frances Griffin, age 86, of Belle Center, Ohio passed away at 2:33 P.M. Saturday, May 13, 2017 at her home. She was born in Belle Center August 30, 1930, to the late John and Edith (Mearns) McClure. A brother, Sam McClure also preceded Fran in death.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen S. Griffin of New Haven, Connecticut and Linda R. Griffin of Belle Center; a grandson, Sean Allen of San Francisco, California; a brother, John McClure of Las Vegas, Nevada, and several nieces and nephews.
Fran was a member of the Belle Center Reformed Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Belle Center High School and went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree from Geneva College in Pennsylvania. After graduating, she continued her education and received her Master’s Degree and PhD at The Ohio State University and the University of Pittsburgh. Fran did research for Yale University and UNC Chapel Hill. At the University of North Carolina, she developed their Oncology Department. Fran was very interested in health and nutrition. All who loved her will miss her.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 26, 2017 at the Fairview Cemetery in Belle Center in the Committal building. A gathering of family and friends will take place prior to the graveside service from 10 to 10:30 A.M. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Belle Center.
The funeral arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Belle Center.
