Helen Peterson

Biography

Helen Peterson, 81, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

She was born May 21, 1932, in Rushsylvania, Ohio to the late Virgil and Cora L. (Russell) Thaxton.

On October 23, 1949, she married Frank I. Peterson in Bellefontaine, and he preceded her in death July 20, 1995. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Wayne, Wendell and Harold Thaxton and four sisters, Leona Summers, Lela White, Virginia Millice and Kathleen Dipple.

Surviving are her sons, Curtis (Doreen) Peterson of Bellefontaine, Keith (Debbie) Peterson of Rushsylvania, Larry Peterson of Bellefontaine and Tim (Brenda) Peterson of Bellefontaine; a sister, Juanita Neer of Urbana, Ohio; eleven grandchildren, Ryan and Katie Peterson, Kevin and Matt Peterson, Kathy Roby, Susie Bevington, Jordan and Justine Peterson, Tanner and Tate Peterson and Breanna Boysel; two step grandchildren, Jeriamiah and Tashina Defenbaugh; twelve great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Helen had worked for Johnson's Restaurant, Vicario's Shoe Store, Siemens (Bull Dog) on the big presses and welding, Thompson Electric, Huber Buchenroth's, and Peterson Electric all in Bellefontaine.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bellefontaine and the Logan County Friendly Senior Citizens. She previously was active with the King’s Daughters and was a volunteer for the Mary Rutan Hospital Guild. Helen was a “Baseball Mom and Grandma” for over fifty five years.

Calling hours will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. Thursday, January 30, 2014, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where Gene Marine will officiate the 4:00 P.M. funeral service following visitation. Interment will be at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio at a later date.
