Hendrika H. May

Hendrika H. “Penny” May, age 74, of Belle Center, Ohio passed away Friday morning, January 7, 2022, at her home.

Penny was born in Amsterdam, Holland May 3, 1947, to the late Aaltje (Wagensveld) and Lin Hsien Shang. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law Jesse Harmon.

Penny married Carl J. “Punk” May September 23, 1968, and he survives in Belle Center. She is also survived by a daughter, Shanon Harmon; a son, Cliff “Kip” May; 7 grandchildren: Travis May, Autumn Shaffer, Amber (Eric) Olson, Jake (Kaity) Harmon, Nathan (Kelsey) Harmon, Kerstin (Thomas) Sharp, and Cassie May; 10 great-grandchildren: Nalla, Rowen, Atticus, Emmy, Maddox, Dax, Elsie, Evelyn, and Hudsyn; a brother, Hans (Yvonne) Lin of Holland; a sister, Mariejette Catz-Lin of Holland and several nieces and nephews.

Penny was the owner and operator of Mays Pizza in Belle Center for 43 years. She enjoyed casino trips, laying in the sun, camping, cooking at her restaurant, spending time with her family and her three dogs.

Pastor Steve Smith will officiate Penny’s memorial service Friday, January 28, 2022, at 2 p.m. at the New Richland Baptist Church in Belle Center, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
