Henry Nazaire Raymond, 93, of West Liberty, passed away Friday morning, November 20, 2015, at Green Hills Care Center.
He was born in Bellingham, Massachusetts on March 15, 1922 to the late Wilfred and Roseanna (Beauregarde) Raymond. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Aurore Strunk; and a brother, Alfred Raymond.
Henry grew up in a French-speaking household, living in both Rhode Island and Pennsylvania. As a young man, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corp and later served five years in the US Army as a paratrooper in the South Pacific from 1940-1945.
Following his Honorable Discharge from the Army, Henry lived in California and worked many years as a source inspector for Rockwell International and retired after thirty-three years. He met and married Elinor Jane Oder, a native of West Liberty, in 1978 and they moved to Green Hills Community in 2004. Elinor preceded him in death in November 2012. He was an avid runner and enjoyed the stock market, traveling and antiques.
Henry is survived by step-sons, Guy (Nancy) Oder of Buford, Georgia and Mitch Oder of California; and two grandchildren, Nicole L. Oder of San Diego and Joyce Oder of Swindon, England.
A private family burial will be held at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty.
