Herbert Arbogast

Biography

Herbert “Herb” L. Arbogast, 90, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Friday afternoon, May 24, 2013 at Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine, Ohio.

Herb was born in Logan County Ohio December 22, 1922, to the late Guy and Mary Lucille (Wagner) Arbogast. He married the former Gayle F. Robb November 5, 1947, in Covington, Kentucky and she preceded him in death December 13, 1993. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, G. Harrison and Jay Arbogast and two sisters, Doris Fox and Lucille Metz.

Surviving are two sons, Mike (Sandy) Arbogast and Steve (Jane) Arbogast both of Bellefontaine; a daughter, Dawn Stump of Indian Lake, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Jason, Nathan, Allison, Jessica, Justin, Josh and Jodi; four step-grandchildren, Mike, Heather, Megan and Matt; twelve great-grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren; his siblings, Earl “Pee Wee” (Gertie) Arbogast, Eugene (Dixie) Arbogast, Franklin (Carol) Arbogast, and Burnetta Foulk all of Bellefontaine, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Herb was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. He then went to work on the railroad and after forty two years, he retired January 1, 1980. Herb was a member of the Bellefontaine Church of the Brethren and in his spare time, he loved to fish and hunt mushrooms.

Pastor Fred Clogg will officiate a graveside service at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio Friday, May 31, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. where military honors will be provided by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.

The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements.
