Herman Hickman, 83, of West Liberty, Ohio, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Heartland of Urbana in Urbana, Ohio. He was born in Lawrence County, Kentucky January 7, 1926, to the late Robert & Rebecca (Scarberry) Hickman. He was also preceded in death by a son, Mike Hickman, two brothers, Ernie & Homer Hickman, two sisters, Goldie Benbow and Gladys Vassar and a grandson, Brandon Hickman.
After sixty two years of marriage, his wife, Mary Marguerite (Yeazell) Hickman survives in Springfield, Ohio. They were married January 25, 1947, in Urbana, Ohio. He is also survived by a son, James D. (Thresa) Hickman of West Liberty, Ohio; a daughter, Martha (Rick) Haerr of Springfield; daughter-in-law, Sherry Hickman of West Mansfield, Ohio; brothers, Robert (Jessie) Hickman Jr. of Peabody, Massachusetts, and Glenn (Dorothy) Hickman of Hilliard, Ohio; sisters, Ida (Shorty) Penny of Laura, Ohio, and Betty (Lafe) Jones of Urbana; five grandchildren, Scott Funderburg, Staci (Andy) Poland, Kelsey (Brian) Deal, Brandy (Staff Sergeant Brad) Powell and Christy (Nate) Cook, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews.
Herman was a farmer all his life and worked as a machinist for Speco Division of Kelsey Hays and retired in 1989.
A World War II Navy Veteran, he was a member of the West Liberty United Church of Christ, the Free and Accepted Masons Mad River Lodge # 161- West Liberty, the West Liberty Lions Club and LST International Association.

Rev. Will Stackhouse will conduct the funeral service at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home in West Liberty, where calling hours are from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. and 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Monday, June 8, 2009. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty, Ohio, with Military Honors by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
