Herschel Eugene Bayless

December 11, 1939 - September 15, 2012

Herschel Eugene Bayless, 72, of Ridgeway, Ohio, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Heartland of Bellefontaine with his family at his side.

He was born December 11, 1939 in Ridgeway, the second born of the late Delbert L. Bayless and Marjorie (Howell) Bayless, who survives in Ridgeway.

Along with his mother, he is survived by his siblings, Carlin (Robert) Ratleff, David (Jodi) Bayless, both of Delaware, Ohio and Teresa (Albert) Kirk of Columbus, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Nayola Bayless of Bellefontaine, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews; three very close friends, Henry Hatfield, Doug Whetsel and Terry Artis, and other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death was a sister, Norma Jean Ratleff and a brother, Kenneth Bayless.

Herschel attended Ridgeway Schools and was a farmer. He worked for local farmers and had a skill for fixing things. Back in the day, he loved hunting and trapping. He spent most of his time gardening and sitting on the porch.

The family would like say a special “Thank You” to the staff of Heartland of Bellefontaine for all of their care.

A homecoming celebration will be from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine Friday, September 21, 2012. Rev. Frank McCollough will officiate a 1:30 P.M. graveside service at the Ridgeway Cemetery in Ridgeway, Ohio following the visitation.
