Howard L. “Hal” Grounds, 66, of Rushsylvania, passed away Saturday morning, November 4, 2023, at his home.
Hal was born in Washington County, Maryland, on March 22, 1957, to the late Howard Tarquen and Marjorie Geneva (Rector) Grounds. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Coriena Rose Randall; and son-in-laws John Randall and Ryan Bahr.
Hal is survived by his children: Danialle K. Bahr of Enon, Ohio, Robb Grounds of Columbus, and Elizabeth Beistline of Enon; six grandchildren: J.C., Taytum, Urijah, Nyjah, Alijah, and Josijah; a brother Byron (Mary) Grounds of Indianapolis; and nephews.
While this is a travesty, Hal will be remembered as a man of immense warmth and kindness, who’s success as a devoted man to science owed much to his collaborative spirit, generosity, and good humor. Hal had a deep and infectious enthusiasm for scientific ideas and theories. He was a great conversationalist and a sympathetic listener, almost to a fault. As well as being a conceptual thinker and looking at the theoretical picture, he was also an extremely accomplished individual in his career but most importantly his family. Some of his most memorable experiences are those of spending time with his daughter and grandchildren on the serene property that he took such immense pride in building.
A celebration of Hal’s life will be held this weekend. Please contact Danialle Bahr at nurse_dano@yahoo.com for more details.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5455 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43214.
EICHHOLTZ DARING & SANFORD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, BELLEFONTAINE, is honored to serve the Grounds family.
