Hubert N. “Charley” Phillips, 84, of Belle Center, Ohio, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2012 at his residence. He was born September 27, 1927 in Belle Center, to the late Hartley V. and Mildred Marie (Spencer) Phillips.
On October 11, 1947, he married Nancy M. Williamson in Belle Center, and she preceded him in death May 7, 2004. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Eldon H. Phillips.
Surviving are three sons, Mike (Teresa) Phillips of Belle Center, Steve H. (Roxanne) Phillips of Kenton, Ohio and Nick (Brenda McMillen) Phillips of Belle Center; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Charley worked at the Belle Center Creamery and was a mill operator at D.A.B. in Bellefontaine for forty two years. A World War II Navy Veteran, he was a member of the Willard Stout Post #266 of the American Legion in Belle Center and was a charter member of the Belle Center Coffee Club. He also was a mascot for nearly every sporting event in Logan County.
Pastor David Murray will officiate the 11:00 A.M. funeral service Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Belle Center, where calling hours are from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. Monday, February 6, 2012.
Because Charley was such an avid follower of the local boys and girls athletic programs, the family has asked that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Benjamin Logan High School Athletic Dept. c/o Benjamin Logan High School 6609 SR 47 Bellefontaine, OH 43311
