Hubert Owen Yoder, 97, of DeGraff, Ohio and formerly of West Liberty, Ohio, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 10:27 A.M. Thursday, June 20, 2013 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.
He was born in West Liberty September 30, 1915, to the late Elbe and Zella (Wirick) Yoder. He married his first wife, Luella Schultz in 1942, and she preceded him in death in 1945. He was also preceded in death by a great grandson Brendon Niehoff; a sister, Lois Bratka and a brother, Chalmer “Chap” Yoder.
On January 6, 1951, he married the former Mary Florence Coles and she survives. He is also survived by his three daughters, Vicki (Ralph) Headings of DeGraff, Debbie (Steve) Andersen of Dallas, Texas and Gloria (Chris) Brown of Grand Rapids, Michigan; eight grandchildren, Andrew (Janice) Headings of Michigan, Sarah (Nic) Paul, Chad (Lauren) Andersen, Heather (Paul) Niehoff and Ryan (Rachel) Andersen, all of Texas, Tim (Meredith) Andersen of Colorado, Rachel (Todd) Carpenter and Kevin (Chelsea) Brown, both of Michigan; thirteen great grandchildren; three nieces, Ann Bratka of West Liberty, Donna Lou Bratka-Erwin of Urbana, Ohio, Flora Kay Martin of Maryland, and a nephew, Hon. Dan Bratka of West Liberty.
Hubert worked as a rural mail carrier for twenty three years. He was a World War II United States Army Air Corp Veteran and a member of the Grace Chapel Church in West Liberty. He served as secretary to the Central and Executive Committee for the Logan County Elections Board and as County Director of Youth for Christ for several years. He was an avid OSU and Cincinnati Reds fan who loved his family and especially his wife.
Pastors Josh Gelatt, Dave Dernlan and Jeff Mixon will officiate the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 24, 2013, at the Grace Chapel Church in West Liberty. Calling hours will be held Sunday, June 23, 2013 from 2 to 5 P.M. at the church. Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty.
The funeral arrangements were in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring and Sanford Funeral Home in West Liberty.
