Ida Z. Gressner, 91, of Belle Center passed away at 1:35 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Heartland of Indian Lake in Lakeview, Ohio. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 16, 1923 to the late Max and Lillian (Katz) Halper.
Ida served briefly in the military at the end of WWII, and then settled in Brooklyn, New York where she became the mother of four daughters who she raised mostly on her own; Marla Gaye Ross and Tina Lynn Ross, both of California, Bernice (Neil) Amalfitano of Brooklyn, New York, and her late daughter Judith “Judi” Haimowitz. She then met Roy Kenneth Gressner and they married in 1973 and decided to settle in Ohio so she could grow roses and vegetables like her mother had done in Brighton Beach, New York. Ida enjoyed traveling, watching sports on television, and was an avid reader.
She is also survived by; three grandchildren, Lisa Starr, Anthony (Dainaira) and Salvatore (Josette); seven great grandchildren, Kelly, Kevin, Kyle, Anella, Blaise, Demacio and Canelo; and a great-great granddaughter, Madelyn Grace.
Rabbi Yosef Zylberberg will officiate a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Bellefontaine.
