Ioda B. Wickliff, age 86, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014 at her home.
She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio May 22, 1927, to the late Samuel C. and Celestia (Baker) Gooch. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Gooch, Reba Frazier and Jewel Foraker, and her brothers, William Gooch and Albert Gooch.
Ody is survived by her daughter, Rhonda (David) Fairclough of Swanton, Ohio and sons, Monty (deceased wife Arnena) Hamilton of Lima, Ohio and Dion (Sue) Wickliff of Zionsville, Indiana; six grandchildren, Tammy Ludwig, Tina (Jeffery) Hamilton-Shoemaker, Bethany Hamilton, Christy (Daniel) Tennessen, Monica Hamilton and Matt (Rachel) Beauchamp. She was known as “Grandma the Great” to fifteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Alma Talbott of Hedgesville, West Virgina and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ody retired in 2011 at the age of 84 from Logan County Jobs & Family Services in Bellefontaine as a clerical specialist. She was also an Avon representative for nearly fifty years. Ody was a fantastic cook and enjoyed sharing those talents with others. She had a zest for life, a passion for dancing, and was admired by all who knew her. The family would like to thank all her dear friends for the support and companionship over the years. Ody will be sadly missed.
Calling hours will be held at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine Tuesday, April 15, 2014, from 5 to 8 P.M. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 2 P.M. at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Lima, Ohio.
