Iris Mae Tennant Crandall, age 89, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away Sunday morning, January 5, 2019, at Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine.
Iris was born in Marion, Ohio, the only child of the late Oscar and Dorothy Neal Tennant February 8, 1930. She married Richard Hamilton Crandall December 31, 1955, at Forest Lawn Presbyterian Church in Marion, and he preceded her in death May 15, 2014. Iris was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Dottie Crandall of Delaware May 31, 2016.
Iris was a 1948 graduate of Marion Harding High School and a 1950 graduate of the Marion Business College. She was a homemaker and helped her husband in his real estate and auctioneer office. She believed her true calling was to be a mother and she excelled at motherhood. Iris was an enthusiastic miniaturist, and created many beautiful doll houses. She was a member of the Lima Area Miniature Club, the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts (N.A.M.E.), and attended many local and national conventions. Kind and generous, Iris saw the beauty in everything and everyone. She was a long-time member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Bellefontaine where she was active with the Rebekah Circle, Presbyterian Women, a Sunday School teacher and a Bible School teacher. Iris had also been a Girl Scout leader. She loved to play the piano, especially hymns. Iris was always pleasant even after years of illness.
The family would like to thank everyone at Logan Acres Care Center who took care of our mother and grandmother during her extended stay.
Iris was lovingly devoted to her family and is survived by her daughter, Rev. Julie (Craig) Fogle of Kenton, Ohio; a son, Jeffre Crandall of Washington; three grandchildren, Neal Fogle of Kenton, Rachel Fogle of Dayton, Ohio, Rebecca Fogle of Kenton and a great-granddaughter, Lilliana Iris Fogle.
A private family funeral was held for Iris and burial was in the Bellefontaine Cemetery.
