J. Edwin Gantz, 82, of West Liberty, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

He was born on March 6, 1933 in Logan County, Ohio, a son of the late Albert and Cleo Belle (Headings) Gantz. He was also preceded in death by a brother, William Gantz, and a great granddaughter, Lucy Kathryn Gantz.

On June 15, 1952 in West Liberty, he married the former LaDonna Willits and she survives along with children, Jacquey (Lowell) Yoder of Bellefontaine, Lyman (Janice) Gantz of West Liberty, Jennifer (Robert) Comer of Bellefontaine, Lowell (Cindy) Gantz of West Liberty, Lon (Debra) Gantz of West Liberty; Jonna (Jon) LeVan of Bellefontaine; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Gaythel Krauss of Bellefontaine, Eileen (Robert) Lee of Bellefontaine, Jerolyn (Glenn) Ashba of Kenton, Marjorie King of Bellefontaine; brother, Bobby (Jean) Gantz of West Liberty; sister-in-law, Marilyn Gantz of Katy, Texas and numerous nieces & nephews.

He worked as a dairy farmer in the West Liberty area for many years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bellefontaine, and was very open with his faith and was always sharing Christ with everyone he met.

He graduated from Monroe High School and was active with the Gideon’s for many years. He loved his grandkids and spending time with them. He was also very passionate about his horses and caring for them.

Pastor Jeffory Willetts will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Calvary Baptist Church, 1140 Rush Avenue, Bellefontaine where friends may call on Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 2 – 8 p.m. and again one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday at the church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty.

Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Bellefontaine assisted the family with arrangements.
