J. Kenneth Smith, 89, of Bellefontaine, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 at his home. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on August 16, 1926 to the late Owen Maynard and Sylvia Jane (Stevens) Smith.
Kenneth married his wife Esther on March 29, 1947 in Covington, Kentucky, and she preceded him in death on January 12, 2001. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law Mart Denison.
Kenneth is survived by his three children, Jacquey Denison, Sally (Thomas) Wagner and James R. (Rosetta) Smith; seven grandchildren, Lynn Pitcher, Eric (Mandi) Smith, Douglas (Cayce) Denison, Rob (Dawn) Wagner, Chris (Erin) Denison, Adam Denison and Stephanie (Fidencio) Gonzales; 11 great grandchildren, Rosie & Alexandrea Pitcher, Alexis & Dakoda Smith, Braden & Baker Denison, Katelyn Wagner, Eamon & Nora Denison and Owen & Aiden Gonzales; a sister, Louise Williams; and many nieces and nephews.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Kenneth served aboard the USS Hughes DD410 during WWII. He was a career journeyman printer, 50 year member of Bellefontaine Lodge #209 F&AM and member of the First Church of God in Bellefontaine
Pastor Ray Headings will officiate a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine where a visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio with military rites provided by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
