James B. Carman, 82, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 10:25 a.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Mount Carmel West Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born in Sweet Springs, West Virginia on August 22, 1934 to the late Byron and Leafy May (Walker) Carman. He was also preceded in death by; two sisters, Juanita Lattimer and Carole Peele; and three brothers, Lawrence “Buddy” Carman Sr., Roger Carman, and Owen Carman.
Jim was married to the late Lena Spain, and they had three children; David Carman of Bellefontaine, and the late Margie Sue Dennison and the late Bruce Carman. He later married the former Nancy L. Faler, and she survives, along with their daughter Julie (Mark) Dixon of Bellefontaine; a step-daughter, Stephanie (Mark) Koldan of Bowling Green; nine grandchildren, Shawn Dennison, Billy Jo Davis, Rebecca Carman, Jenna Carman, Ryan Carman, Allison Koldan, Michael Koldan, Garrett Dixon, and Lauren Dixon; a great granddaughter, Shellby Mays; a brother, William “Butch” (Sharon) Carman of DeGraff; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim retired as Vice-President of Manufacturing from Airstream in Jackson Center following 41 years of service. He was a fan of Elvis Presley, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the University of Michigan. He enjoyed flower gardening, boating, and travelling in his Airstream trailer.
The family will receive friends from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine. Pastor Bryan Meadows will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 27th at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson, Ohio.
