James N. Carpenter, 73, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Monday, December 14, 2009, at his residence. He was born May 2, 1936, in Zanesfield, Ohio to the late Harlan Jay and Sarah Elizabeth (Hockett) Carpenter.
On September 7, 1956, he married Elizabeth Irene West in Russells Point, Ohio, and she survives along with their daughters, Lori (John) Morris of Zanesfield and Jo’Anne (Mike) Holland of DeGraff, Ohio; a brother, Joe (Margaret) Carpenter of Summerfield, Florida; sisters, Ellyn (Tom) Laing of West Liberty, Ohio and Hellyn (Larry) Parker of Bellefontaine; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Preceding him in death were two sons, Randall David and Mark Carpenter; a sister, Thelma Hughes and three grandchildren.
A member of the First Friends Church in Bellefontaine, Jim worked for the Bellefontaine City Schools, Ross Pattern & Foundry in Sidney, Bellefontaine Plating Corporation, and he and his wife owned and operated Carpenter’s Green House.
Larry Parker will preside over a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 17, 2009, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
