James “Jim” H. Davie, Jr., age 66, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away at 7:30 P.M. Monday, February 11, 2019 at his residence.
He was born in Logan County Ohio October 2, 1952, a son of the late James H. “Dutch” Davie Sr. and Maxine (Herd) Wirick, who survives in Michigan. A brother, Bruce Davie and his step-mother, Shirley Kilgore Davie also preceded him in death.
On December 23, 1993, he married Kathy Salyer and she survives. He is also survived by five children, Kyle (Jodie) Davie of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Summer (Dan) Johnson and Jessica (Kyle) Gerwels of Bellefontaine, Eric (Brittany) Davie of West Jefferson, Ohio and Jayme (Cory) Chamberlain of Bellefontaine; fourteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Karen Long of Kenton, Ohio and Vivian Petoskey of Michigan; a brother, Benjamin (Robin) Wirick of Michigan; his two dogs, Tootsie and Cocoa and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jim served his country in the National Guard for seven years before working his career at Glacier Daido in Bellefontaine for thirty five years. He loved spending his time scraping metal and going to tractor and truck pulls. He enjoyed volunteering at the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, having hog roasts and cooking for his friends and family.
The family would like to say thank you to his two good coffee drinking buddies, Junior Tevis of West Mansfield and Bill Rowe of Rushsylvania.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
The arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
