James Richard Grandstaff, 95, of DeGraff, passed away at 8:20 p.m. on Monday, December 26, 2016 at Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine, Ohio. He was born in Woodstock, Ohio on October 2, 1921 to the late Roy L. and Ollie Marie (McGuire) Grandstaff.
On June 29, 1941, Jim married his wife of 75 years, Lura Mae Miller, and she survives; along with their two children, Lucinda Holycross of DeGraff and Ronald (Becky) Grandstaff of Huntsville; four grandchildren, Douglas (Jenni) Grandstaff, Matthew (Lori) Grandstaff, Shawn (Jaime) Holycross, and Ryan (Stacey) Holycross; and 9 great grandchildren.
A lifetime farmer, Jim served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945 during World War II. He was a 73 year member of the DeGraff United Methodist Church, a member of American Legion Post #652, Boggs Lodge #292 F&AM, Constance Chapter #78 and #459, and the Logan County Farm Bureau.
Pastor Michael Mitchell will officiate a funeral service at 12 noon on Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes Street, DeGraff, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday. Burial will follow in Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff, Ohio.
