James “Jim” Edward Herres, 77, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville, Tennessee.
He was born July 25, 1935 in Bellefontaine, to the late Herbert Peter and Marguerite (Miller) Herres. Preceding him in death was a daughter, Denise; and his siblings, Herbert Herres, Mary Fitzwater, Josephine Marsh and Edith Herres.
On June 14, 1958 he married Marlene Ballou in Bellefontaine, and she survives along with a son, Jeffrey (Tracy) Herres of Marysville, Ohio, and a daughter, Mechele Herres of Powell, Ohio. Also surviving is a sister, Marjean McGrew of San Diego, California; a sister-in-law, Kay (Gordon) Schultz of Marysville, and several nieces and nephews.
James was an Engineer for Conrail Railroad and retired in 1997 after forty one years of service. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine, the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the Bellefontaine Lions Club. He enjoyed golf and fixing things around the home.
Calling hours are Tuesday, September 18, 2012 from 5 to 8 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. Rev. Patrick Sheridan will officiate an 11:00 A.M. funeral mass Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Bellefontaine.
