James Murphy
James. A. Murphy, 88, of Kent, Ohio, and formerly of Bellefontaine, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Akron General Medical Center, Akron, Ohio.
He was born on December 20, 1926 in Blanche, Kentucky to the late Frank and Rosie May (Smith-Warren) Murphy.
On May 7, 1949 he married the former Virgie Whitehead in Pineville, Kentucky and she preceded him in death on May 15, 1999. He is also preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Murphy on November 25, 2001; a one grandson; and a sister and brother.
Surviving is a son, Forster Murphy of Bellefontaine; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
James was a U.S. Army veterans serving during WWII and was a self-employed contractor.
He like to fish and always looked forward to attending his great-grandchildren’s activities. James enjoyed visiting people and sitting on the front porch.
Gene Marine will officiate a funeral service at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Bellefontaine on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11:00 am with two hours of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in the Bellefontaine Cemetery with military honors by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
